# Email: your assistant reads and writes your mail
Your assistant can work with your email account, so sending a message is as simple as describing it. You can ask it to read and summarise the latest messages, draft a reply, or compose a full email to a client with the details you provide. It uses your own account, your own address, and your own rules.
## Connecting your account
To let the assistant use email, open the chat window and type /modelsetup. In the setup window you will find two tabs: Email (SMTP) and Mail (IMAP). The SMTP settings are what the assistant uses to send messages, and the IMAP settings are what it uses to read the ones you receive. Enter the details of your account in both tabs, press Save, and the assistant is ready to help with your correspondence.
## What you can ask
The assistant drafts messages in the tone you ask for, includes the attachments you mention, and sends them from your address. It can also go through your inbox, summarise what arrived, and help you decide what needs an answer. You stay in control: the assistant sends only what you ask it to send.
## Where your credentials live
Your email credentials are stored on your machine and are never sent anywhere except to your own mail server. Updates to AgentBridge never touch them.
The next guide explains how the assistant gathers information from the internet when you need current facts, sources, and research.
